The Southern Mallee Transport Connections Partnership (SMTCP) consulted the Wycheproof and Lalbert communities in 2007, and found an increasing need for people to travel to the outer regional area of Swan Hill to access appointments and specialists shops and services. As a result of this consultion, the SMTCP trialled a weekly trial bus service in 2009, in partnership with Swan Hill Bus Lines, in order see what the 'real' community need was for such a service. The bus service proved very successful, and was well patronized.
The SMTCP then developed a request for the Department of Transport to undertake a formal trial of the service, and this application was successful. The trial was implemented for approximately three years, and due to its success has now resulted in recurrent funding for this vital transport service.
This has been a great outcome for the Wycheproof and Lalbert communities, and people cannow rely upon this weekly bus service for a long time to come.
The bus service is provided every Thursday and travels from Wycheproof to Swan Hill (via Lalbert) and return, and is open to the whole community.
No bookings are required, and fares are purchased from the driver. All usual transport concessions apply.

Although the Wycheproof to Swan Hill Bus Service provides a vital link to the outer regional centre of Swan Hill, it is not the intention of the transport service to promote shopping out of town, so all passengers are urged to continue to shop locally whenever they can.
