The Charlton Local Community Bus Service has been extended for 2012. 

The trial bus service was first developed from a partnership between the Buloke Shire Council, the Southern Mallee Transport Connections Partnership and Start's Bus Company, and has provided a valuable local transport service to locals in Charlton since March, 2011.

The Southern Mallee Transport Connections Partnership has resolved to continue to fund the bus service during 2012, in order to assist local people as they continue to recover from the devastating floods.  The timetable and route of the bus service will remain the same, however the day of the service will change from Tuesdays and Fridays, to every Thursday.  A donation at the time of travel is greatly appreciated.

Ms Pauline Thorson (Executive Officer from the Southern Mallee Transport Connections Partnership) stated that “the bus service has been extended to help people connect with shops and services in Charlton”, and she encouraged people “to support the bus service during 2012”.
